The flight

High tech entertainment on Boeing 777 these days. Remember the time when a drop down TV and single movie was considered the height of luxury?

Now you have a huge selection of films and TV and games. After a game of poker to make me feel at home I opted for chariots of fire. Haven't seen it in words but was one of those films that we tape recorded back in the day and remember as a real family favourite. Maybe that's what influenced the mid life crisis option of running.

Next I gave carys a game of chess and after a convincing win because she gave up she then threw the towel in during a quiz game with her mum. Pac man beckons as solitaire already completed.   At 5 hrs in and at half way point decision to make. The free flowing booze of long haul flights seems to be both a thing of the past and not conducive to responsible parenting or middle age decline. But mainly because they are charging for alcohol between meals.... wondering now when the next meal is due...

One ice cream and an episode of flight of the conchards later... don't think those guys will ever improve on business time if the 2008 effort I just watched was anything to go by.

American Airlines air steward just remarked it was a pleasure to have  me and my family on board today. No one does polite like America but you  actually end up believing them.  Top service AA.

Eddie the Eagle next Olympic themed movie. Watchable although remember reading not all that factual in terms of the back story.

And then we arrived in lax

  1. Sounds like a busy flight. Thanks for sharing the films - interesting what different people choose to watch. I tend to read on planes (and sleep - did you manage any?).

Paying for inter-meal drinks - that's a new development. Is it just AA or do you think it is becoming more common.

By the way why did you select AA, had you flown with them before?

  2. No sleep ! Might have dozed slightly after glass of wine withe first meal. We did get a couple of drinks when food was served and the air steward gave me extra just before landing sso maybe the payment is if you summon them outside of serving times. Will see if same with BA on return. Booked with them so was AA codeshare. Very impressed though it seemed a very new plane.

    1. Sounds great Lloyd. I bet you are tired now.

I have flown Virgin the last few times, so didn't know BA and AA were codesharing.
