The hotel is gorgeus aswell. I'm loving the King Arthur theme. Very.....unique. The pool......correction........pools were lovely. Only went in two out of four as one was closed, and the other a pool strictly for adults only. I liked the pool with the slide, and a very fun slide it was indeed.
About to go out for a walk around some of the nearby hotels, and my first meal in Vegas! Hope dad doesn't get distralced by any of the poker tables! He's already been to the casino today.
(Lloyd) back up a little there sister... we have a day to describe first. Left our lodge at 8 or 9. We are not sure what time we were on as when we got to nevada it said put our watches forward an hour but we had never put them back... luckily we had no imporant engagements time wise for the few days we were in Arizona! !
Drove back on ourselves a bit and then up towards vegas. Made a stop in the last stop in Arizona. It turned out to be a monster truck and machine gun practice outpost. The gun stuff out here really turns your stomach although we still managed to have breakfast there.
It was on to the hoover dam and hovering between states aloft the structure. Pretty major feat of engineering and incredible views. The heat hit us too. Back in desert. Temps went up around 30 degrees during our journey as we dropped from the height of Williams to the desert of nevada.
A bit of a griswold style loop around the excalibur a couple of times as we looked for car park to drop off hire car. Vegas not fun to drive in. 750 plus miles done on the main road trip plus lots of toing and froing in california takes it close to a 1000 driven I reckon.
The sweet smell of the casino hit and a few early forays at the tables proved unproductive. Clearly the kids bombed less in the pool.
Fab summing up of amother very interesting day. Who knew people paid hundreds of dollars to be driven out to the desert to shoot machine guns. Most random stopover! Road trip over. Vegas fun begins!

ReplyDeleteThanks for the update on the journey. Having done the exact same route this time last year it is nice to read your experience.
ReplyDeleteVery odd road that one up to Vegas, the emptiness for miles and then suddenly a gun place or some old town with names like Choroid or Dolon Springs. The Hoover Dam is always worth a visit and your photo of entering Vegas is almost a replica of ours from last year - https://www.flickr.com/photos/haydn/20853161702/in/album-72157656527116049/
Hope you have a great time in Vegas - though having said that you have obviously begun too already.
A great trip for your final drive. Enjoy Vegas & hopefully come back a little richer Lloyd. Enjoy all that Vegas has to offer. xx
ReplyDeleteSo hot there and amazing food
